Exothermic Molding Inc. Acquires Ewing Mold and DieExothermic Molding, Inc, is pleased to announce our acquisition of Ewing Mold and Die. As part of our commitment to improve our products and better serve our customers, we reached an agreement with Ewing Mold's owner Ken Boone in December 2004 to merge the family-owned business into Exothermic Molding and bring their expertise in-house. Founded in 1961, Ewing Mold specialized in supplying 3-D contoured molds to the plastic injection molding market. Although Exothermic Molding has traditionally manufactured most of its own molds, Ewing Mold has been our number one outside supplier for reaction injection molds since 1987. This acquisition gives us the ability to provide lower cost molds in shorter lead times. We've gained not only Ewing Mold's state of the art CAD-CAM software and 3-axis CNC machinery, but also their personnel and years of experience in mold-making. As part of the acquisition, Ewing Mold has moved their personnel and equipment into Exothermic Molding's Kenilworth facility. To accommodate these new additions, Exothermic Molding has made numerous facility improvements, including creating a new Design and Engineering department. Exothermic Molding remains dedicated to serving our core market: medical instrument and electronic enclosures made to high accuracy with cosmetically critical finishes. Advantages of our reaction injection molding process include:
By adding the capability to make all our molds in-house, we add two more advantages to this list:
